Coming into Community

Curiosity. Apprehension. Excitement. Like others out in the world, I have been proselityzing about the revolutionary impacts of technologies--especially the Internet, and yet this is the first time I "come out of the closet" of technological apprehension and enter a small reflection of my being onto cyberspace. A cyber community. Hmmm.

So much to say. So much to do. So in love with the world and yet so afraid of the world. So full of hope for the future and yet frozen at times by despair with the present.

All the rhetoric of youth... it passes fast; my late twenties have vanished like so many clouds of dust left behind by a speeding car in the desert. The early thirties are here and Idealism, Hope, and Faith in Humanity wake up sad and drunken some days, ashamed at the horrors that people do to eachother and to our sweet earth, frightened by the inmensity of the power we humans now hold in our hands.

But the voice of Hope, the Idea of Youth, Faith in the mysterious and seemingly eternal ability of humanity to renew itself through young people--You, We--awakens me once again and I Believe, again and again, I believe.

We can change the world. We can make this world a better place. One young person at a time. One human being at a time. We grow fast. Time passes quickly, especially for those most intensely engaged in learning, leading, growing.

No time to dilly dally. The challenges of the world are great--at times it seems that truly, never in known history have they been greater. These are times for great dreams and great actions. We cannot afford to be shy.

Greetings and blessings to you amazing, beautiful people out there. You know who you are.

:)

Hello Bolivia!
I'm a new member with TIG...
My son is in Bolivia with a group called Hands Across The Nations (HATN). They are building a medical/resource facility, and working with the children that are in jail because their parents are.
They are in Cochabamba, and up in the Bario. Has had MANY experiences so far. Brian is making a documentary there....if anyone is in the area, look them up! Be a part of the documentary!
They are there 'til Aug 23rd.
Thanks all
Joan
